PROPOSED REGULATORY TEXT

Notice is given, pursuant to subsection 205.125(1) (see footnote a) of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation Act (see footnote b), that the Governor in Council, pursuant to section 205.124 (see footnote c) of that Act, proposes to make the annexed Regulations Amending the Canada – Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Marine Installations and Structures Transitional Regulations.

Interested persons may make representations concerning the proposed Regulations within 30 days after the date of publication of this notice. Regulations Amending the Canada – Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Marine Installations and Structures Transitional Regulations

Amendments

1 The Canada – Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Marine Installations and Structures Transitional Regulations (see footnote 1) are amended by adding the following after section 1:

Reference

1.1 In these Regulations, any reference to a standard is to be read as a reference to the most recent version of that standard.

2 Section 2 of the Regulations is replaced by the following:

2 (1) The operator must provide

(2) However, if the workplace is a ship used for construction, or for geotechnical or seismic work, the immersion suits that must be provided in the workplace under subsection (1) may conform to either the National Standard of Canada CAN/CGSB-65.16, Immersion Suit Systems or the standards set out in

3 The heading before section 3 of the Regulations is replaced by the following:

Firefighting Equipment

4 (1) Paragraph 3(1)(b) of the Regulations is replaced by the following:

(2) Subparagraph 3(2)(a)(ii) of the Regulations is replaced by the following:

(3) Subsections 3(3) and (4) of the Regulations are replaced by the following:

(3) However, if the workplace is a ship used for construction, or for geotechnical or seismic work, at least four sets of the required firefighting equipment must be provided and this equipment may conform with the standards set out in

(4) The equipment set out in subsections (1) to (3) must be kept ready for use and stored in a place that is easily accessible and at least one set must be easily accessible from the helicopter deck.

Coming into Force

5 These Regulations come into force on the day on which they are registered.
