INQUIRY
Hotels, motels and commercial accommodation
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal has received a complaint (File PR-2022-037) from Newland Canada Corporation (Newland), of Calgary, Alberta, concerning a procurement (Solicitation W8484-23-0296/A) made by the Department of National Defence (DND). The solicitation was for accommodations and laundry services. Pursuant to subsection 30.13(2) of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal Act and subsection 7(2) of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal Procurement Inquiry Regulations, notice is given that the Tribunal made a decision on August 19, 2022, to conduct an inquiry into the complaint.
Newland alleges that it has obtained evidence that the winning bidder is performing the contract by accommodating DND personnel at two establishments, thereby calling into question the evaluation of the bids by DND and the subsequent award. It also claims that both hotels in question fail to meet some of the mandatory requirements of the solicitation.
