EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These amendments implement the policy resulting from Broadcasting Regulatory Policy CRTC 2015-323, New methods to monitor the amount of Canadian children’s and youth television programming and the expenditures on such programming in the Canadian broadcasting system, July 21, 2015. As a result, the target audience markers that television broadcasting, pay television and speciality services licensees must record in their program logs will be standardized and the existing overlaps in demographics will be eliminated. The amendments will allow for the collection of more detailed and accurate data to monitor effectively the amount of Canadian children’s and youth television programming in the Canadian broadcasting system.
