Order Awarding the General Campaign Star With the SOUTH-WEST ASIA Ribbon

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to section 9 and subsection 17(1) of the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations, 2009 footnote a,
- (a) repeals Order in Council P.C. 2010-250 of March 10, 2010 footnote b;
- (b) determines that service that satisfies the following conditions is recognized as being worthy of the award of the General Campaign Star with the SOUTH-WEST ASIA ribbon:
- (i) the service is performed inside the theatre of operations consisting of
- (A) the political boundaries of Afghanistan and its airspace, as part of the Canadian participation in the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, during the period beginning on April 24, 2003 and ending on July 31, 2009, or
- (B) the political boundaries of Afghanistan, the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, the Gulf of Aden, the Red Sea, the Suez Canal and those parts of the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea that are west of 68° east longitude and north of 5° south latitude, as well as the airspace above those areas,
- (I) during the period beginning on August 1, 2009 and ending on March 12, 2014, or
- (II) beginning on March 13, 2014, and
- (ii) the service consists of
- (A) a minimum of 30 cumulative days for service performed during the period referred to in clause (i)(A) or subclause (i)(B)(I), or a combination of both,
- (B) a minimum of 14 cumulative days for service performed during the period referred to in subclause (i)(B)(II), or
- (C) in the case where some of the days of service are referred to in clause (A) but without meeting the minimum referred to in that clause and other days of service are referred to in clause (B) but without meeting the minimum referred to in that clause, the sum of those days of service if that sum is at least 14 cumulative days;
- (i) the service is performed inside the theatre of operations consisting of
- (c) specifies that the SOUTH-WEST ASIA ribbon referred to in paragraph (b) shall be 32 mm in width, consisting of a 12-mm green stripe in the middle, flanked by 2-mm white stripes and 8-mm red stripes; and
- (d) determines that the General Campaign Star with the SOUTH-WEST ASIA ribbon referred to in paragraph (b) shall be worn after the General Campaign Star with the ALLIED FORCE ribbon.
